Position Summary: Â
We are seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to design and deliver trusted, scalable semantic data models and dashboards that enable descriptive and diagnostic analytics across the organization. This role is responsible for transforming curated (and at times, non-curated) data into well-structured reporting-layer datasets that can be used to create intuitive dashboards for descriptive and diagnostic analytics.
The Business Intelligence Engineer will operate at the intersection of data engineering, business intelligence, and analytics, partnering closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure that data is accurate, understandable, and consumable at scale.

Position Responsibilities:Â
Dashboard & Visualization Development
- Design and develop dashboards that deliver descriptive analytics (what happened) and diagnostic analytics (why it happened)
- Create intuitive visualizations that enable business users to explore trends, anomalies, and root causes
- Ensure dashboards are performant, reliable, and aligned with enterprise visualization standards
- Collaborate with stakeholders to refine reporting requirements and improve usability
- Optimize dashboards for performance and scalability
Data Quality & Governance
- Implement validation logic and testing to ensure semantic models produce accurate and reliable outputs
- Monitor data quality, anomaly detection, and resolve inconsistencies across reporting layers
- Help efforts to maintain lineage and documentation for key reporting datasets
- Support governance processes related to data definitions and reporting standards
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with data engineering teams to align on source data readiness and transformation design
- Work with analysts and business teams to create conceptual and logical definitions for key metrics and KPIs
- Translate business questions into data-driven solutions that support decision-making
- Provide guidance to stakeholders on effective data usage and interpretation
Continuous Improvement & Optimization
- Identify opportunities to improve data usability, model efficiency, and reporting performance
- Refactor legacy reports into standardized semantic-layer-driven dashboards
- Support adoption of modern analytics engineering practices, including version control and CI/CD workflows
- Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and technical standards across the team
Semantic Modeling & Reporting Layer Development
- Contribute to the implementation of best practices for naming standards, metadata, documentation, and model governance
- Partner with Peers in Data Engineering on the design and build for semantic reporting-layer tables that standardize business definitions and support scalable reporting
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, BI engineering, or advanced business intelligence development
- Extensive Tableau experience building production-grade dashboards and analytics tools
- Advanced SQL skills, including complex joins, window functions, aggregations, and performance optimization
- Strong experience leveraging dimensional and semantic data models (facts, dimensions, metrics) for reporting and analytics
- Experience building dashboards that support both operational and strategic decision-making
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into scalable analytics solutions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and consistency
- Exposure to data quality testing frameworks and automated validation processes
- Experience working in Agile or product-oriented delivery environments
- Experience working with modern cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, etc)
- Familiarity with semantic modeling frameworks or analytics engineering tools (e.g. dbt)
- Experience developing governed KPI frameworks and standardized metrics
- Experience supporting self-service BI environments
