Assistant, Amateur Forecasting/Player Evaluation Initiatives

Primary ObjectiveThis position will serve as a multifaceted teammate within the amateur forecasting & player evaluation initiatives departments. The assistant will help oversee data, technology and video responsibilities to create efficient processes across all Miami Marlins’ evaluation spaces. This role requires strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to connect effectively across diverse groups. In addition to carrying out preparation for the Rule 4 Draft, this individual will interface with international forecasting, player development, R&D and other branches of the other organization to execute new and existing evaluation projects.

Essential Functions* Maintain an in-depth understanding of the amateur player pool and department lists, improving workflows.

• Support baseball operations leadership in scaling player evaluation initiatives, spearheading technical operations and equipment management.
• Aid regional scouts, crosscheckers and coordinators in maintaining alignment of scouting/video integration across domestic and international evaluation environments.
• Assist video capture, media digestion and administrative efforts for department information-gathering.
• Process departmental documentation with accuracy and timeliness.
• Travel to workout sites/affiliates to aid in collecting, processing and analysis of data.
• Collaborate with Baseball Solutions and Systems staff on integrating reports and objective information into internal platforms.
• Live and video player evaluation as assigned.

Required Qualifications* Familiarity with baseball technology and athletic testing platforms (TrackMan, Blast, Kinvent, Rapsodo, VALD, VueMotion).

• Advanced in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
• Demonstrated experience or exposure with SQL or other data manipulation tools.
• Strong foundation of modern evaluation practices.

Preferred Qualifications* Demonstrated experience or exposure to camera operations and video editing platforms.

• Familiarity with data visualization or modeling platforms (R, Python, etc.).
• At least one year of work experience in professional baseball. Equivalent, relevant work experience could be considered in lieu of this.
