📍 Middlesbrough, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 📊 Data & Analytics | Football Intelligence ⚽ Performance | Recruitment | Sports Science | Medical ⏰ Closing date: 23 October 2026

Middlesbrough Football Club are recruiting a Data Analyst to join their newly established Data & Analytics department.

Working closely with the Head of Data and Data Engineer, the successful candidate will help transform football and organisational data into clear, actionable insights that support decision-making across Performance Analysis, Recruitment, Sports Science, Medical and wider club operations.

The Role

This is an applied analytics position suited to someone with experience across football, Performance Analysis, Sports Science, Recruitment Analysis or a related sporting environment who wants to further develop their analytical and technical expertise.

The Data Analyst will develop dashboards and reporting solutions, analyse multiple football datasets and work directly with stakeholders to ensure data is translated into useful information for decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports and visualisations.
  • Analyse football, performance, Sports Science and operational data to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Support the integration and validation of data from multiple football and business systems.
  • Work with stakeholders across the club to understand analytical requirements.
  • Develop data products that support football and organisational decision-making.
  • Produce clear and engaging reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support data quality, consistency and accuracy across reporting outputs.
  • Deliver ad-hoc analytical projects across Performance Analysis, Recruitment, Medical, Football Operations and wider departments.
  • Support the development of self-service analytics and reporting across the club.
  • Document reporting processes, business definitions and analytical methodologies.
  • Stay informed about developments in sports analytics, football intelligence and data visualisation.

What They’re Looking For

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Experience within football, Sports Science, Performance Analysis, Recruitment Analysis or a related sporting environment.
  • Experience developing reports, dashboards or visualisations using Power BI.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Excel and data-analysis principles.
  • Ability to communicate findings clearly to a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • A passion for football and an interest in using data to improve performance and decision-making.

Football Technology & Data

Experience or familiarity with football and performance platforms including the following would be valuable:

StatsBomb | SkillCorner | Catapult | VALD | Second Spectrum | Hudl Sportscode | Transfermarkt

Experience with Hudl Sportscode, Transfermarkt and other football intelligence platforms is listed as desirable.

Why This Role?

The opportunity is particularly interesting because the successful candidate will join a newly established Data & Analytics department, with exposure across multiple areas of the football club rather than a single analytical function.

The role connects:

Performance Analysis → Recruitment → Sports Science → Medical → Football Data → Power BI → Decision-Making

It could therefore provide a strong next step for an applied sports analyst looking to develop broader football data and business intelligence capabilities.

How to Apply

Applications should be submitted through Middlesbrough Football Club’s recruitment process.
