The Opportunity

We are looking for an exceptional analytical leader to join our Sports Analytics team as a Principal Sports
Analyst. As the most senior individual contributor on the team, the Principal Analyst will set the strategic
direction for Sports Analytics, serve as the definitive organizational authority on sports wagering data,
and drive enterprise-wide analytical frameworks that shape commercial, product, and trading strategy.
This role is responsible for transforming analytics from a reporting function into a true strategic
differentiator for BetMGM's Sports vertical.
The ideal candidate is a visionary analytical leader who combines deep technical mastery — including
machine learning, predictive modelling, and advanced experimentation — with the executive presence
and communication skills to influence at the highest levels of the organisation. They will champion a
culture of data-driven decision making, mentor and develop the broader analytics community, and
ensure that every insight generated drives measurable business value.
This is a highly cross-functional role requiring deep partnership with trading, product, operations,
finance, and compliance teams. The Principal Analyst will originate new analytical opportunities,
manage a portfolio of high-impact workstreams, and maintain trusted-adviser relationships with
executive stakeholders across the business.

• Develop and own the analytics strategy for Sports, ensuring full alignment with BetMGM's

corporate strategy and business goals, and driving all analytics workstreams to focus on business

value rather than reporting

• Define and govern the methodological standard for the Sports Analytics team, establishing best

practices for advanced modelling, statistical experimentation, measurement frameworks, and

analytical quality that scale across the broader Data team

• Lead the design and delivery of the team's most complex and high-impact analytical models,

including next-generation propensity and predictive models, advanced segmentation

frameworks, and sophisticated bonus and promotional evaluation models that quantify margin

and ROI performance

• Innovate with leading-edge analytical techniques — including machine learning, Bayesian

inference, causal modelling, survival analysis, and real-time streaming analytics — and oversee

the development of new analytical tools and frameworks that extend the team's capability

• Serve as the definitive organizational authority on sports wagering data structures, market logic,

and bet type classification, providing expert guidance that engineering, trading, compliance, and

product teams rely on for critical decisions

• Drive enterprise-wide data quality initiatives in close partnership with data engineering and

architecture teams, leading workstreams on cataloguing, metadata, lineage tracking, and

scalable ETL/ELT optimisation across the sports and wagering data estate

• Scale insights holistically across the organisation — ensuring that analytical outputs are not

siloed but operationalised across trading, product, finance, operations, and compliance — and

actively drive changes across teams and technology based on recommendations

• Establish and champion the company-wide approach to statistical experimentation and impact

measurement, advocating for advanced causal modelling and econometrics, and developing

advanced impact models to quantify the ROI of business initiatives

• Lead the analysis of strategic commercial priorities including high-value player economics,

revenue concentration, VIP retention sensitivity, and the incremental impact of promotional

mechanics and pricing changes

• Originate new analytical opportunities beyond the scope of existing projects, managing a

portfolio of workstreams with full executive stakeholder accountability — from statement of

work through to post-delivery relationship management

• Present findings and strategic recommendations to SLT and executive audiences with strong

presence and authority, translating the most complex quantitative work into compelling

commercial narratives that drive organisational decisions

• Act as the senior analytical adviser to commercial, product, trading, and finance leadership,

proactively shaping how data informs strategic decisions and advocating for analytics-led

change at the highest levels

• Lead and develop analysts across seniority levels, shaping the direction of the analytics team,

mentoring on advanced techniques, and driving transformational impact on the Data Analytics

community

• Take a portfolio approach to ongoing work across the Sports domain, maintaining trusted-

adviser relationships with executive stakeholders post-project completion and identifying future

opportunities

• Lead change management initiatives within the data department, overseeing the adoption of

new tools, methodologies, and processes, and ensuring continuous improvement and

adaptability across the analytics function

• Build and scale automation solutions and self-serve analytical capabilities that drive team

efficiency and democratise data access across the organisation
