Performance Strategist - Defense

OVERVIEWWe seek a senior-level strategist with extensive DoD experience to join our Performance Strategy Team. This high-impact role is focused on aligning Kitman Labs’ efforts with the DoD’s strategic direction while enhancing military personnel's health, readiness, and resilience.
The ideal candidate will have held leadership roles within the military, possess experience with performance programs (e.g., POTFF, H2F, etc…), and have a deep understanding of the future operating environment and its demands.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Partnership Development:

• Engage with military leadership to identify performance goals, challenges, and opportunities for innovation.

• Develop and deliver comprehensive strategic plans to align Kitman Labs’ solutions with DoD objectives.

• DoD Alignment and Guidance:

• Leverage knowledge of DoD priorities and the future operating environment to guide Kitman Labs’ efforts in aligning with defense strategies.

• Serve as a key advisor on integrating performance programs into broader DoD initiatives.

• Program Support and Innovation:

• Collaborate with Kitman Labs’ Data Science, Product, and Applied Performance teams to develop solutions that meet military needs.

• Represent the voice of military leaders and practitioners to drive innovation in product development and research priorities.

• Thought Leadership and Representation:

• Act as a subject matter expert, supporting high-quality, impactful thought leadership content.

• Represent Kitman Labs at internal and external events, serving as a spokesperson for military-focused initiatives.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Partner with internal departments to ensure alignment on strategic goals and execution.

• Support Partnership Development teams in pursuing and managing new customer opportunities.

Ideal candidate profile

• Extensive experience working with or within the Department of Defense.
• Leadership roles in the military, ideally within performance-focused programs (e.g., POTFF or similar).
• Strong understanding of the future operating environment and strategic DoD initiatives.
• Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders across various military branches.
• Experience developing and implementing strategic plans that align military personnel with common goals.
• A background in human performance, readiness, or resilience initiatives.
• Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills.

Qualifications

• 10+ years working with performance development, resilience, or readiness programs in the military.
• 5+ years in a leadership role.
• Experience with data-driven approaches to human performance and readiness initiatives is a plus.
