Artificial Intelligence Football Officer (AIFO)

Role Purpose:

 

To lead the implementation and integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies across the club’s football operations, enhancing decision-making, performance analysis, scouting, recruitment, and injury prevention. The AIFO ensures the club remains at the forefront of innovation by transforming data into actionable football intelligence.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. AI Strategy & Infrastructure

• Develop and implement a club-wide AI strategy in alignment with sporting objectives.

• Integrate AI and machine learning models into existing performance, medical, and scouting systems.

• Evaluate and implement AI platforms, software, and technologies relevant to football operations.

 

2. Performance Analysis & Tactical Insights

• Use AI to generate advanced insights into team tactics, opposition analysis, and in-game trends.

• Collaborate with analysts and coaches to provide real-time or post-match tactical recommendations.

• Train AI models to recognize patterns such as defensive weaknesses, pressing triggers, and off-ball movements.

 

3. Player Monitoring & Injury Prediction

• Implement machine learning algorithms to predict injury risk based on training load, medical history, and biometric data.

• Collaborate with medical and fitness staff to adjust player workloads using AI-driven insights.

• Automate alerts for fatigue, stress, or underperformance based on wearable data.

 

4. Recruitment & Scouting Intelligence

• Apply AI to large-scale data scouting platforms for player identification and benchmarking.

• Use algorithms to assess potential signings based on current team needs, tactical fit, and predictive performance models.

• Create a scoring or recommendation system for scouting reports using data and video analytics.

 

5. Opponent & Fixture Forecasting

• Model opponent behavior, formations, and key players using historical data and real-time feeds.

• Simulate upcoming matches based on team dynamics, player availability, and tactical trends.

• Develop predictive tools to estimate points, standings, and qualification probabilities.

 

6. Data Management & AI Training

• Oversee data collection, storage, and cleaning to ensure high-quality AI model training.

• Work with IT and data science teams to ensure data security, GDPR compliance, and seamless platform integration.

• Continuously train and refine AI models for improved accuracy and reliability.

 

7. Education & Internal Collaboration

• Educate coaches, analysts, and executives on how to interpret and apply AI-driven insights.

• Ensure clear communication between technical departments and the AI unit.

• Promote a culture of innovation and evidence-based decision-making throughout the club.

 

8. Innovation & Research

• Stay up to date with the latest trends in AI, sports tech, and predictive modeling.

• Collaborate with universities, tech startups, or research labs on AI-based football projects.

• Explore opportunities for AI in fan engagement, ticketing, or commercial areas as a secondary function.
