The Data BI and Reporting Analyst plays a key role in enabling data-driven decision making across the football club’s sporting, commercial, and operational activities. This role is responsible for turning complex data into clear insights through analysis, reporting, and visualisation. Requirements and Responsibilities
You will be responsible for developing and implementing data models in Power BI, building interactive dashboards, and producing insightful reports using the Microsoft BI stack. Working closely with stakeholders across the club, you’ll translate business requirements into effective data solutions, leveraging tools such as Microsoft SQL Server, Azure Data Services, and Power BI. This role demands strong technical expertise in Microsoft’s data platform and a deep understanding of business intelligence best practices.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of the responsibilities of the role:
- Design and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualisations using BI tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).
- Work with stakeholders across departments including football operations, ticketing, retail, hospitality, and marketing to understand data needs and provide actionable insights.
- Create and test new data sources and responding to queries relating to the reports that are produced (e.g. requests for further information)
- Develop and manage data models, queries, and ETL processes.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity across dashboards and reporting.
- Identify trends, assist with analysis, and support strategic planning with data insights.
- Assist in integrating and standardising data from multiple sources (e.g. POS, CRM, social platforms, etc).
- Promote a data-first culture and provide training/support to internal users of BI tools.
Essential and Desirable
The Data BI and Reporting Analyst must:
- Have proven experience as a BI Analyst, or similar role.
- Strong skills in SQL and experience with BI/reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).
- Good understanding of data modelling, warehousing, and ETL pipelines.
- Experience working with large datasets and multiple data sources.
- Data storytelling skills – experience building user friendly dashboards and reports that communicate data stories
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and a passion for data quality and governance.
Ideally, Data BI and Reporting Analyst will:
- Experience in the sports, events, or hospitality industries.
- Familiarity with POS platforms, Operational platforms or sports performance databases.
- Understanding of GDPR and data privacy best practices.
