About the role

We’re looking for a Head of Data & Analytics to build and lead the entire data function from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of fan opinion, football performance, and product analytics. You’ll define the strategy, build the systems, and lead the execution of all things data—tracking how users interact with the app, analysing how they rate and discuss players, and turning that rich, fan-generated insight into something powerful for both our community and commercial partners.

You’ll be responsible for both traditional analytics (user behaviour, retention, engagement) and the more innovative challenge of aggregating and structuring qualitative fan data into clear narratives, metrics, and shareable formats. You’ll also define how we visualise this data in-app and build pathways (e.g. dashboards, APIs) to distribute insights to media, clubs, and brand partners.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the overall data strategy across product, user behaviour, and fan-submitted football data
  • Set up analytics infrastructure (e.g. event tracking, dashboards, warehousing, visualisation tools)
  • Build systems and processes to collect, clean, and structure fan-submitted player performance ratings and sentiment. Work with product and engineering to integrate data outputs into the app (e.g. rankings, charts, leaderboards)
  • Develop API and data-sharing strategies to enable external access for commercial partners
  • Build and lead a data team as the company scales
  • Provide actionable insights to product, marketing, and leadership teams
  • Monitor and report on core business metrics such as acquisition, engagement, retention, churn, and fan contribution trends
  • Ensure data quality, compliance, and responsible use of user-submitted content

About You

  • You have 5+ years of experience in data analytics or data science, ideally in a startup or consumer tech environment
  • You’ve built or led a data function before—strategically and hands-on
  • You’re fluent in SQL, Python (or similar), and modern data tools and warehouses (e.g. dbt, Looker, Tableau, Mixpanel, Segment, BigQuery)
  • You know which services to use and when, considering latency, availability, operational complexity, scale and cost
  • You have a solid understanding of data modelling approaches , data warehousing concepts, and a strong focus on data quality, testing, observability and performance
  • You have experience structuring and analysing both quantitative and qualitative user input, ideally having used LLMs to power thematic analysis
  • You’re commercially minded—comfortable building data products that drive both user value and revenue opportunities
  • You’re excited by the challenge of turning subjective fan sentiment into structured, meaningful football insight
  • You’re collaborative, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working cross-functionally with product, content, and partnerships
  • Bonus if you’ve worked in sports tech, media analytics, or API-based data businesses
  • Bonus if you have experience in operational machine learning

This is a full-time role based in London. Our office is in Soho and we believe in the benefits of working together, so ideally you’d be able to join us in the office at least 3 days a week.
