Software Engineer Intern - Hockey Operations - NHL

JOB SUMMARY:

The Software Engineering Intern will help improve and expand our internal web-based resources that support strategic decision-making for the Hockey Operations department. This role involves full-stack development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Django, with opportunities to collaborate directly with analysts, coaches, and engineering staff on tools that influence real-world hockey outcomes.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop internal resources using HTML, Tailwind, & Django
• Document existing processes and recommend operational improvements
• Review code with Manager of Hockey Analytics
• Collaborate with Data Engineer & Machine Learning Engineer to implement core strategic initiatives from Management, Coaching Staff, & Scouting/Development Staff
• Develop API endpoints for internal resources
• Take ownership of small-scale projects from design to deployment with mentorship from senior staff
• Protect the reputation of the company
• Exemplify the Utah Mammoth mission and values: transparent, all in, community obsessed, one team, and scrappy
• Accept other duties, as assigned

COMPETENCIES:

• Python
• JavaScript
• HTML
• CSS (Tailwind preferred)
• Web Frameworks (i.e. Django/Flask)
• Git
• SQL
• Object Oriented Programming (OOP)
• Bonus: Familiarity with Cloud Technologies (AWS preferred)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduated or Current Junior or Senior Student in Software Engineering or related field
• At least one previous software engineering related internship

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally.
• This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate and assess.
