WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
SUMMARY
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Network Engineer to join a small, agile operations and engineering team. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in routing and switching, along with strong proficiency in Palo Alto network security technologies. This role requires hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and security.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESWould be responsible for all aspects of network technologies including but not limited to the following: * Manage and support day-to-day operations of the enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
- Design, implement, and maintain routing and switching solutions using industry best practices (e.g., BGP, VLANs, STP).
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls and security policies to ensure network integrity and compliance.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
- Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and proactive monitoring to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Respond to and resolve network incidents, outages, and service requests in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Evaluate and test new networking hardware, software, and tools to support evolving business needs.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members as needed.
- Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support for critical issues or maintenance windows.
- Occasional travel for onsite support
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge Areas/Experience***Minimum Experience 6+ years of hands-on experience in network support and engineering.
- Demonstrated expertise in routing and switching protocols (e.g., BGP, STP).
- Proven experience with network security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, and access control mechanisms.
Technical Skills* Routing & Switching: + In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Arista and Cisco networking hardware + Strong understanding of advanced BGP routing designs and implementations
- Network Security:
- Proficient in configuring and managing Palo Alto NG Firewalls and Panorama
- Familiarity with Prisma Access, IPsec VPNs, and 802.1X (dot1x) authentication
- Palo Alto certifications (e.g., PCNSE) are highly preferred
- Monitoring & Documentation:
- Experience with network monitoring protocols and methodologies
- Strong documentation skills with proficiency in Microsoft Visio for network diagrams and architecture planning
- Automation & Scripting:
- Exposure to network automation tools and frameworks such as:
- Python
- Ansible
- Arista CloudVision Portal (CVP)
- Exposure to network automation tools and frameworks such as:
Education/Certifications* The ideal candidate will have a four-year college diploma or university degree in data communications or computer science, and/or equivalent work experience
Soft Skills* The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with good technical aptitude
- Must possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audience
- Must possess the ability to work well under pressure
