Sheffield United Football Club are seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to support the physical preparation and performance monitoring of First Team players. This is a key role within the club's performance department, dedicated to delivering evidence-based sport science interventions that enhance player athleticism, minimise injury risk, and maximise matchday performance.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in elite football or high-performance sport, with a strong background in data-driven performance analysis, load management, and physical profiling. Working closely with coaching, medical, and performance staff, you will play an integral part in shaping training periodisation, supporting on-pitch delivery, and driving continuous innovation across the sport science function in alignment with the Club's performance philosophy.

Your Key Responsibilities will be:

• Performance & Load Monitoring
  • Collect and analyse daily training and match data
  • Translate complex data into meaningful and actionable insights for MDT
  • Manage and maintain GPS and HR systems
  • Maintain & develop our AMS to provide actionable and simplistic outcomes which inform decision-making
  • Use data skills using excel and other models such as Power Bi or R to provide innovative insights.
  • Provide predictive load insights
  • Track physical KPIs and contribute to performance profiling
  • Communicate with loan and international clubs to provide handovers at relevant times of the season
  • Liaise closely with the Academy Head of Performance and their Data Analyst to ensure seamless integration of academy players into 1st team training
• Training Delivery
  • Lead or support the design and deliver warm-ups, speed and football endurance training
  • Support the physical periodisation of training in collaboration with coaches
  • Full match day support
  • Lead and support on various aspects of physical testing and profiling
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration
  • Work closely with coaching, medical, analysts and nutrition staff
  • Attend MDT meetings and contribute to integrated performance planning
  • Communicate effectively with players to promote understanding and buy-in
• Innovation & Development
  • Stay current with the latest research and best practices in applied sport science
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and methodologies
  • Contribute to internal CPD and knowledge-sharing within the department

Essential Criteria for the Role:

• Significant experience in elite football or high-performance sport
• BSc in Sport Science or related field (MSc preferred but not essential)
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially excel
• Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and matchdays
• Successful completion of a standard DBS upon offer acceptance.

Desirable Criteria for the Role:

• Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, R or Tableau)
• UKSCA accreditation, BASES or equivalent S&C qualification
